Lack Of Swimsuits Keeping Kids Away From Lamont Pool

Residents are concerned that the hard work that went into bringing back the swimming pool in Lamont may have been for naught, due to sluggish attendance.

The swimming pool on Palm Drive opened last month, but many have been turned away because they do not have the appropriate swimsuits.

Residents say that's mainly because many stores do not sell them, and those that do have been sold out since the pool opened.

The Active 20-30 Club and American Kids Sports Center are teaming up to provide swimsuits to boys and girls.

They are asking for people to donate new or gently used swimsuits by dropping them off at the Borton & Petrini law office in downtown Bakersfield or the American Kids Sports Center on Allen Road.

The swimsuits will be given away to children Saturday afternoon. In addition, free swimming lessons will be provided to patrons who go to the pool.
