PG&E Warns Of Impersonator
Customers Should Request Employee ID
Pacific Gas & Electric is warning customers to watch for an impersonator who has threatened and demanded money from at least two customers.PG&E said customers should always verify an employee's identification.Recently, two customers in Kern County have had someone come to their door claiming to be a PG&E employee. The impersonator then threatens to shut off the electricity and gas unless they collect money.
In one case, the impersonator allegedly did shut off the power.PG&E gave no timetable for when these incidents occurred, saying only that customers alerted them of the incident.PG&E said it does not collect money door-to-door, and that all employees will have company identification.PG&E asked said if anyone comes to the door and you suspect the person is an impersonator, you should call the police and then call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000 and notify them of the incident.Any customer with questions about the impersonator can also call the number listed above.
